Rainbow House Educational Childcare Centre

Rainbow House Educational Childcare Centre offers programmes for children ranging in age from 3 months to 12 years. The centre integrates the best practice of early childhood education with high quality care provision.

Rainbow House has a holistic approach, involving all areas of the child’s development, and provides a safe secure, loving environment with a home from home atmosphere where confidence, independence and self-esteem is nurtured. Each individual child is helped to reach their full potential and is encouraged and supported to develop at their own pace.

The Aims of Rainbow House are as follows:

• To build on the experience and learning which each child brings to the centre
• To use play as a basis on which each child will learn and develop
• To form good relationships with both children, parents and staff in order to help each child grow and develop into a valued member of their own community.

Highscope is the curriculum adapted in Rainbow House. HighScope is a quality approach to early childhood care and education and has been shaped and developed by research and practice over a long period. It identifies and builds on children’s strengths, interests and abilities.

Rainbow House promotes positive learning by:

• Providing a stimulating environment where the children learn to make choices, reason, solve problems, investigate, explore, concentrate, share and take turns.
• Using the children’s interests and needs to develop an age appropriate child centred curriculum
• Encouraging the children to participant in a wide range of activities
• Involving the children in self-assessment

Rainbow House offers high quality childcare to people of Tallaght West to enable them to avail of education and training, and provides childcare for children with special needs, who have been referred from Tusla, Child and Family Agency.

Rainbow House also offers an after school programme for 26 children from the local community ranging in age from 4 – 12 years. Children attending the afterschool programme are collected from the local school.
